In 2016 in Ukraine, 119 people were sickened by botulism, from which a dozen people died. So far in 2017, the picture looks very similar according to data from the Center for Influenza and Acute Respiratory Virus Infections of the Ministry of Health, a [Ukrainian News Agency] report states.
According to data received from the regions on [15 Nov 2017] in Ukraine, 132 cases of botulism have been registered and 11 of them have died.

Flavescence doree was detected for the 1st time in the Department of Puy-de-Dome, Region of Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. It had previously been reported from other Departments in that Region.
Currently, the Regional Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Forestry are preparing a directive to industry on control measures and the outline of the area to be put under quarantine restrictions. Measures to be taken will include surveillance, insecticide sprays and uprooting of affected vines.

Just to invite the attention that in leptospirosis, if left untreated, icterus cannot be missed, and it usually accompanies the itching and rashes in the skin. Leptospirosis is often misdiagnosed for hepatitis and treated as such. Death usually follows in such cases because of delayed diagnosis and treatment for leptospirosis.
