Former TEPHINET Chairman receives high honors in Australia for services to field epidemiology

Congratulations to Dr. Mahomed Patel, Associate Professor at Australian National University (ANU) and former TEPHINET Chairman (1999-2001), who was recently awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia for his services to field epidemiology.

Among his accomplishments, Dr. Patel "has trained frontline experts to deal with breaking public health crises through the MAE program since it was set up in 1991 and helped establish similar training programs with WHO in India, Malaysia, China and Vietnam. He is currently working to establish a similar program in the Pacific Islands."
