It is with great joy that I write to you in this new year to update you on recent and upcoming TEPHINET events, activities, and happenings.
Our programs continue to work cooperatively to improve and expand activities across the network. In collaboration with CDC and WHO, TEPHINET has taken an active role in the response to the Ebola outbreak in Africa, through our FETP programs. Programs in Uganda, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, EPIET and EUPHEM, Spain, UK, Germany, and China have—and will continue to play important roles in outbreak response. The FETP response in Nigeria and resulting successful containment of Ebola there, serves as an extraordinary example of the value of FETP programs and field epidemiologists. TEPHINET will remain involved with CDC and area partners to train neighboring countries in outbreak response and preparation.
As we welcome 2015, we begin planning EIS International Night. In April we will welcome nearly 500 guests and highlight a remarkable 15-year collaboration between CDC and TEPHINET. This relationship has fostered our success in developing highly trained field epidemiologists to serve in diverse positions worldwide. We are looking forward to a spectacular evening.
Please, accept my thanks for your continued interest in and support of TEPHINET activities. I hope you enjoy this edition of TEPHINews.
